WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington’s signature summertime concert series returns for its 9th season to Riverfront Park. The Downtown Sundown Concert Series will run each Friday night from May 23 through August 29, with the exception of July 4. The free concerts are from 6 to 10pm and feature both local performers and touring bands. We need your help!

Call for Volunteers: WDI is seeking outgoing individuals who are enthusiastic about the Downtown Sundown Concert Series to volunteer this summer. If you love the downtown concert series and can help with a 6-10 p.m. shift, send contact information and available dates to office@wilmingtondowntown.com. Be sure to add your email address in the comments section. Email addresses will be deleted as soon as we are notified of your entry and collect the contact information. This is a great team building option for co-workers or to have fun with friends.

Charity Wristband Program: To help support other community organizations, WDI partners with area nonprofit agencies to split the proceeds from wristbands sold at the event. Wristbands cost $1 and can be purchased by people who are 21 and older and want to consume alcohol during the show. Last year, WDI contributed approximately $8,700 to area nonprofits through this wristband program.

This year, 29 organizations applied for one of 12 available dates. Because of this overwhelming demand, WDI is seeking help from the community to select the beneficiaries. To participate, people just need to “like” the Downtown Sundown Concert Series on Facebook and then select their favorite charity from the list. Voting ends at noon on Friday.
